Research program
The Epstein Files
The audit of the 2025 Justice Department release is not published yet. What stands in the meantime, and why the record behind it was withdrawn.
What stood here described a research program built on the Epstein Files Transparency Act release: what it contains, how it is read, and what OCR and redaction do to the text. The indexed record behind it, the Research Vault, was withdrawn on 10 September. Too much of it was not ready: uncorrected OCR, records nobody had read closely enough to excerpt, entity pages that were a heading and little else.
Publishing that record is still the intent. Publishing it in that condition was not.
What stands in the meantime: the investigations built on the release remain published, and every document they cite resolves to the Justice Department's own copy, each link checked against the server rather than assumed. The method those investigations follow is on the method page.
